Zero Waste Facilitators
San Francisco’s Mandatory Recycling and Composting Ordinance from 2009 requires residents and businesses alike to properly separate recyclables and compostables and keep them out of the landfill.
The new San Francisco Refuse Separation Law (for Large Refuse Generators) Which Takes Effect JULY 1, 2019, aims to increase compliance with San Francisco’s pre-existing requirements by auditing the three main waste streams of large generators (compostables, recyclables, and trash). As a result Large Refuse Generators are now required to procure staff in the role of a “Zero Waste Facilitator” to ensure adequate waste material separation, if the business or building is not able to reduce contamination to acceptable levels on their own.
Large Refuse Generators are required to maintain a contract with “Zero Waste Facilitators” for two years if they are found to be non-compliant with existing separation guidelines. They may also be subject to increased rates and daily fines.
Waste Busters is your best option for Zero Waste Facilitation and we are here to help!
